Why investing in yourself is the best choice you will ever make.
Hi, readers my money series. If you are new here, my name is deepanshu and I post financial freedom tips every other Monday. I would love for you to get to know me better before you leave and don’t forget to follow me on twitter and Pinterest.
So for the past 2 years, I have spent a lot of time studying millionaires and learning how they build and maintain their wealth. I’ve always found it interesting that there are so many lifestyle differences between the super-rich and the not so rich. Millionaires have detailed strategies for their wealth and how they manage their lives.
One thing that I have learned over the years of my research is the importance of investing in yourself. More specifically, investing in your own knowledge and personal growth. I notice that most non-rich people who are stuck in life and not moving forward are people who will spend tons of money on a new car, new clothes, vacations and things like that but would never spend money to take a course on financial freedom, investing, or personal development. I
IN SORT – NON RICH PEOPLE ALWAYS SPENT 80% OF PART OF THEIR INCOME UNDER NECK BUT RICH PEOPLE ALWAY SPENT MEJOR PART OF THEIR INCOME ABOVE NECK
Because they neglect to nurture themselves as people, they remain in the same lifestyle and mindset forever. You see, one of the secrets of the super-rich is that they never stop learning. They are always looking for a way to expand their knowledge and grow as a person so they can grow financially. The world’s richest people spend hours a day reading.
The good news about all of this is that the internet has given us unlimited access to all the knowledge you could possibly need. To say that I’ve learned so much stuff from the internet is a huge understatement. I’m going to share with you several ways that you can invest in yourself.
#1 START READING
I may have mentioned this in previous money posts, but I say it again because it is SO important. The internet has really distracted us from the magic and power of books, but it is very important to start reading if you aren’t already. Find one good book that you can learn a lot of stuff from and start there. The library is an awesome resource if you don’t want to pay for new books all the time. You should also consider looking for used bookstores in your area. We have a used bookstore near my house, and they have all the best books for the best deals. You can read tons of books free of charge with amazon prime if you have it.
Replace non-stimulating social media accounts with ones that stimulate your mind.
One thing that we can all agree on is that we all spend a little too much time on social media. But what if you could turn that into a good thing? Instead of following social media accounts that give personal growth tips, financial advice, and other things that will help expand your knowledge. Not all social media will rot your brain you know.
# 2. TAKE Yourself a Break
Remember, the path to your passion isn’t linear. There will be bumps and roadblocks during your journey. So give yourself a break. Sit back and re-assess what you are doing. I hear many stories of people telling me they started out doing all the steps to take action, but then there was a family emergency or father or husband lost their job. They had to put their passion on the back burner for a while. That’s okay. It’s when you come back to it that increases your chances you’ll succeed!
# 3. follow your Commitment
As with anything new you try, stay committed. I know that may be hard with your passion. What if it’s months and you aren’t making money with your passion? How can you remain committed to this? I know that’s tough. But if you set yourself up for success – saved money, freelance writing on the side of your day job, and learned from someone who already did this – you can still be committed and keep on trying.
#4. SET YOUR Goals
“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.” – Tony Robbins
Goal setting is HUGE for success. If you write out your goals you are much more likely going to achieve them. So, while you’re watching TV at night, get out your bullet journal or notebook and write out your goals to start freelance writing or whatever chosen passion you want.

#5 Hire a coach
Coaching is something that I see offered a lot nowadays and I honestly think it’s brilliant. If you are looking to develop a new skill or improve something you’ve already been working on, I highly suggest hiring a coach. Coaching is a bit different from taking a course because you get more personal and individualized results. This is designed to target your problem areas so you can strengthen them and sharpen your skills.
An awesome way to invest in yourself to travel. When you get outside of your comfort zone and experience new things, you are expanding your mind through these new experiences. It is important to make travel a priority in life as you can learn so much about yourself and the world through travel.
#7 Learn a new language
I started studying French a couple of years ago as a fun way to expand my knowledge. I love the way I felt after each day when I finished my French exercises. My brain felt more alive and really felt like I was feeding my mind good things. I can feel the growth and I love that. Nowadays there are plenty of ways to learn a new language and my favorite is the app Duolingo.
#8 Invest in your health.
Whatever you do in life, you should remember how important your health is. One thing that I know about a lot of people who aren’t rich, is that they don’t go to the doctor unless they absolutely have to. They say it’s too expensive. This is very true, but again, are you really going to put a price on your health and wellness? You should always strive to take the best care of yourself that you possibly can. You can do this in little ways also like changing your diet and starting to exercise. I recently started my fitness journey and I started to feel better mentally, and physically within the first week. It really changed the game for me. Find ways to take care of yourself and do it. You won’t regret it.
#9 ATTEND SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS
Another way that you can invest in yourself is to attend seminars and workshops to learn about something new. There are seminars and workshops available on any topic that you want to learn. I did a quick search in my local area and I was able to find free events about growing your small business, time management and stress management. You can find local events in your area through a quick search on meetup.com or eventbrite.com. Although the intended purpose of attending a seminar and workshop is to learn new information, there are many secondary purposes. One of the best parts of attending seminars and workshops in your local area is that you get to connect with like-minded people. Also, these events can help you find a mentor.
